Ed Repka has illustrated covers for so many of my favourite bands such as Toxic Holocaust and Municipal Waste to older bands like Death and Vio-Lence. The dude is like some sort of post apocalyptic painting machine. I truly love his insane colours and super detail never mind the gross/ awesome subject matter! Despite the fact that my work is very simplified and cartoony I still cant help but be inspired by this guy.....There's a nice lengthy interview with him right....over.....here
This wall was done after the Artclash 2009 competition in Zurich with my main man and crew member Inkfetish who did the super cool cuckoo clock (rather stereotypical wouldn't you agree!)
In order its Jasik, Balrog, Motel, Toe (from Cape Town) and Gfunk.. Halloween wall done recently with our crew 40HK..
The odds were against us with the emulsion not drying and it getting dark at like 3pm but in the end it came out better than I thought it would, all thats missing is Inkfetish's characters!
Another great show with by far the coolest style. I especially love the mix of 'real life' stop frame animation and cut out textures for backgrounds etc... The style of this show is very hand drawn as opposed to cleaner vector styles of animation you see these days.....very inspirational indeed..
If cartoons are only for kids then I'll never grow up!
I've always loved cartoons as long as I can remember and the first show I was truly amazed/freaked out by was Ren & Stimpy, since then I have been a huuuuge fan of John Kricfalusi. Dude has pioneered cartoons in such a way that we were fortunate to have shows like Cow & Chicken, Spongebob, Chowder and Flapjack....
Not only is his style and animation beyond cool, the humour is also super retarded that leaves you wondering if kids should be watching it. Also I love his nod to 50's style TV adverts what with Log, Powdered Toast Man and the My Little Brother Doll
I love this video not only for his raw talent but the soundtrack too! I also really love his use of transparent coloured sticker paper for the colouring - too cool!
